Have You Checked Off These 6 Building Maintenance Tasks During The Fall Season?

Updated: Jan 15, 2021

Before the autumn season ends and the winter season begins, be sure you have completed these six building maintenance tasks:

#1 Clear fallen leaves.

Remove foliage from the area, especially from inside the drainage system as well as from walkways and driveways.

#2 Check the furnace/boiler.

If this equipment needs any servicing, it’s much better to know before the single digit temperatures arrive.

#3 Winterize the irrigation lines.

Be sure the building’s water system is ready for the cold temperatures.

#4 Mark the streets/driveways.

Mounds of snow will likely be here before we know it– So, as a precaution, use stakes to mark where the street and driveway meet. These markers allow snowplows and other vehicles to know where the streets and driveways meets.

#5 Inspect plumbing.

Look for any cracks, leaks, or other potential damages that may be surrounding your plumbing system. Be sure these items are in proper working condition before the winter comes.

#6 Schedule roof and building envelope inspection.

Before the winter arrives, know the condition of your roof. Doing so will ensure that you head off any potential issues before the winter weather rolls in and exacerbates these potential issues.
